What do you need to know?
The mission of the Laboratory of Agriculture and Plant Health of Catalonia is to correctly diagnose the conditions that plants can suffer and to attend to the analyzes that derive from the quarantine pest prospecting campaigns, following the protocols established by the European and Mediterranean Organization. for Plant Protection (EPPO-OEPP). It also has reference laboratories designated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, which support diagnostic problems and officially confirm the detections of quarantine organisms.
Especially to grower but also to anyone else who wants a diagnosis of diseases or disorders on plants or plant products.
You can apply in any time.
The fees depend on the type of analysis:
- Analysis of the sharka virus in application of the self-control program of the official registry of plant material suppliers: €5.90
- Analysis of the citrus sadness virus in application of the self-control program of the Official Registry of Plant Material Suppliers: €5.90
- Immunological development of printing on nitrocellulose membranes (immunoimpressió) for the analysis of the sadness virus in application of the self-control program of the Official Registry of plant material suppliers €5.90
- Analysis of the bacterium Xanthomonas arboricola pv pruni in application of the self-control program of the Official Registry of Plant Material Suppliers: €5.90
- Analysis of the bacterium Erwinia amylovora in application of the self-control program of the Official Registry of Plant Material Suppliers: €5.90
- Analysis of samples of certification material in vine nurseries: €12.00 per sample.
Other analyzes not foreseen in the self-control program of the Official Register of Plant Material Suppliers:
- Clinical analysis of a sample. First observation to assess and decide the analytical techniques that can be applied (euros/sample): €10.00
- Direct morphological identification in the sample by visual observation or magnifying glass or microscope (euros/sample): €5.00
- Indirect morphological identification, by isolating or extracting backgrounds and/or bacteria and/or nematodes and/or arthropods from a sample (euros/sample for the first determination): €30.00
More for each additional determination: €20.00 - ELISA serological determination (euros/sample for the first determination): €10.00
More for each additional determination: €8.00 - PCR molecular determination (euros/sample for the first determination): €15.00
More for each additional determination: €10.00 - Bacterial determination by fatty acids by MIS chromatography (euros/sample for the first sample): €15.00
More for each additional sample: €10.00
Plant Protection Associations are exempt from the fee for laboratory analyzes to determine plant parasites, provided that the samples are not related to the self-control program of the official registry of plant material suppliers.

The response time depends on the season and of the type of analysis required. It goes from very few days from a determination of nematodes, viruses or fungi that do not require "in vitro" culture to a month in case of analysing bacteria or fungi in a specific artificial media or if the use of techniques of non-routine analysis is required.
Results are not released until payment is made.
