Senior citizens can apply for free or reduced-fare public transport tickets:
Targeta Rosa (Pink Card): social fare transport ticket with which you can travel free of charge or at a reduced rate. Only for the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB).
Passi d’acompanyant (accompanying person’s pass): a document that allows you to use public transport services within the 36 metropolitan municipalities with an accompanying person, with the latter travelling free of charge. Only for the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona (AMB).
Targeta daurada RENFE (RENFE Gold card): offers discounts of up to 40% for train travel for the over-60s.
Carnet del pensionista (Pensioner’s card): for free travel or to buy reduced fare tickets for use on the following lines:

Remote assistance and alarm systems, meal centres and home care services
Ask for information at your primary care centre (CAP), at the social services of your local council (neighbourhood, district) or contact your Consell Comarcal (County Council).

The programme aims to provide accommodation for students in the homes of older people who are lonely or in need of company, in the city of Barcelona.
If you are homeless: contact your local council or social services. If you do not have a registered address, you can request that this process be expedited even if you are homeless. It is essential that you be inscribed in the municipal register in order to apply for benefits.

Civic facilities aimed at the senior citizens’ community to promote their well-being and participation as active members of society.
Oficina de la Gent Gran Activa
This office provides support to older people in terms of active ageing. It promotes the participation of older people in issues that are of interest to them: working together for autonomy, training and access to culture and information technologies. Older people have a lot of knowledge to contribute.
Programa de Turisme Social per a Gent Gran (IMSERSO)
This program organizes stays for older people in coastal areas and in the interior of the country, helping to improve their quality of life, health and prevent dependency.
Adult school: educational programmes offered by adult education centres:
Preparation for the entrance exams (for intermediate and higher vocational training courses, university for people over 25 years of age).
